What is included in a Kingpin roof replacement
Every roof replacement we install in Northeast Ohio is the full system, written line by line in the quote: complete tear-off and disposal, replacement of any rotted decking we find, ice-and-water shield at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, starter course, Owens Corning architectural shingles, ridge vent and cap, and all new flashing. Nothing gets covered over — tear-off to the bare deck is how soft spots get found instead of hidden.
The quote is one exact figure, not a range that grows on install day. If we open the roof and find decking damage beyond what the inspection budgeted, we photograph it, call you before touching it, and price it at the per-sheet rate already printed in your quote — so even the surprise has a known cost.
Owens Corning, and why the badge matters
Kingpin is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which isn’t a sticker anyone can buy — it requires verified insurance, licensing, and an installation track record the manufacturer audits. For you it means the material warranty on the shingles is properly registered and backed, layered underneath our own 10-year workmanship warranty on the installation. If a shingle fails, Owens Corning covers it; if our work fails, we do.
Signs your roof is ready
Shingles cupping, cracking or losing granules into the gutter; dark streaks and bald patches visible from the street; daylight or damp insulation in the attic; and repairs starting to repeat in the same spots. In lake-effect country, freeze-thaw cycles work water into every weak point — a roof at the end of its life fails faster here than the national averages suggest. Age matters too: most architectural shingle roofs in Northeast Ohio are done between 18 and 25 years. Where we replace roofs
We install across Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga and eastern Cuyahoga counties from our base in Geneva — Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ashtabula, Madison, Perry, Painesville, Concord Township, Mentor, Willoughby, Chardon, Chesterland, Euclid and the towns between. Because crews are already working in these towns every week, an inspection can usually be scheduled within a day or two.
Shingle colors, and choosing well
Owens Corning’s architectural lines run from driftwood greys through weathered woods to true blacks, and the choice is more consequential than it looks — the roof is a third of what the street sees. We bring physical samples to the inspection, point you at nearby addresses wearing the colors you are considering, and give an honest word on what suits the siding you have and the resale market you are in. Darker roofs read crisp on light houses; mid-tone woods forgive everything; and whatever you pick, the ridge and hip lines are where an architectural shingle earns its name.
Ventilation: the half of the roof you cannot see
Every replacement quote includes a ventilation check, because shingles over a badly vented deck cook from below — aging in fifteen years instead of twenty-five and voiding material warranties along the way. Where the math is wrong we fix it in the same install: ridge vent cut in, soffit intake cleared or added, baffles where insulation chokes airflow. It is a modest line on the quote and the single best thing you can buy for the lifespan of the shingles above it.

When storm damage totals a roof, the replacement runs through your carrier — and our documentation is built for that path: date-stamped photos, an adjuster-formatted scope, and a supplement process when the initial approval misses real damage. We work with every major carrier operating in Northeast Ohio, we do not inflate claims, and the roof that goes on is the same full system as any cash job — insurance work is not a corner-cutting category here.

No. The foreman walks the property with you at the start or end if you’re around, but plenty of customers go to work and come home to a finished roof.
Yes. Tarps go down before tear-off, debris is hauled the same day, and magnets are run over lawn and drive twice before the crew leaves.
We tear off instead. A layover hides the decking, voids most material warranties in practice, and adds weight the structure was not designed to carry twice. Tear-off costs more on day one and less over the life of the roof.
Roughly March through early December, weather depending. Shingles seal best above 40°F, so deep-winter installs wait unless there’s active damage that can’t.
